Reliable patent information is often hard to come by, but it is essential to the work of the Medicines Patent Pool and other organisations who are engaged with intellectual property and access to medicines. Since its founding in July 2010, the MPP has been collaborating with national patent offices around the world through the World Intellectual Property Organization to collect data on what HIV medicines, formulations and combinations are patented, and where.
The MPP is pleased to announce the launch of MedsPaL – the Medicines Patents & Licences Database. MedsPaL replaces the MPP’s current Patent Status Database and includes comprehensive information on the patent and licensing status of selected HIV, hepatitis C and tuberculosis medicines.
